MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Multan has instituted special measures to streamline and facilitate the Hajj operations at Multan International Airport (MIAP). The first direct Hajj flight, Pakistan International Airlines flight PA 876, departed for Madina carrying 326 pilgrims, marking the commencement of this year’s Hajj operations.
In a bid to ensure a smooth process for the expected 12,000 Hajj pilgrims traveling from Multan to Madina and Jeddah, Collector Customs Syed Imran Sajjad Bukhari has deployed more than 70 customs employees at MIAP. These measures are aimed at providing efficient and effective services to the pilgrims.
Deputy Collector Maryam Jamila is overseeing the Hajj operations at MIAP, supported by Assistant Collector Zaigham Ali in various shifts. Under strict instructions from Collector Imran Sajjad Bukhari, customs officers are ensuring thorough scanning of every pilgrim to prevent smuggling activities.
Collector Bukhari has also conducted unannounced visits to MIAP to inspect the customs arrangements and ensure diligent scrutiny by the staff. The coordination between Multan Customs and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) involves comprehensive examination of passengers’ luggage to curb any smuggling attempts.
The heightened surveillance and meticulous inspection procedures are part of the broader effort to facilitate a secure and hassle-free Hajj operation. Departures for the Hajj pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia are scheduled to continue until June 12th.
