Multan Enforcement recovers skimmed milk worth Rs20m near Sadiqabad

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) recovered foreign origin skimmed milk powder, plastic shopping bags and others of worth Rs.20 million.

Sources said that credible information was received from the source that huge quantity of skimmed milk powder and other smuggled goods will be transported through Multan Region through Sadiqabad region. Assistant Collector Fareed ud Din Masood formed special team of Anti-Smuggling Organization comprised special team on the direction of Collector Dr. Rehmatullah Vistro to take action against smuggled goods in jurisdiction and foil their attempt of smuggling.

Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization Bahawalpur squad started patrolling of the suspected routes and enhanced exit and entrance point to intercept them. Customs anti-smuggling squad detained a suspected passenger bus bearing registration number of LES-713 loaded with foreign origin Skimmed Milk Powder near Uch Sharif road during examination of goods. The Passenger bus was loaded with 100 bags of different brands of foreign origin skimmed milk,95 bags of Plastic Shopping bags and 50 bags of Serla fruit bar (Imli)

Anti-smuggling Squad team asked driver to provide legal documents of the foreign origin skimmed milk and others. Customs teams recovered almost 245 bags of skimmed milk powder ,plastic shopping bags and Serla Fruit bar during their examination. Customs teams asked driver to provide legal documents of said skimmed milk powder, but they failed to provide any documents. Customs Anti-Smuggling teams decided to seize skimmed milk powder after thorough examination.

The recovered goods were Iranian origin and said were smuggled through Iran from clandestine routes in the country and they were trying to transport skimmed milk in the local markets of South Punjab. The net worth of the seized skimmed milk and others were almost Rs.20 million and value of vehicle is almost Rs.15 million approximately. Anti-Smuggling squad shifted said Skimmed milk powder in the state ware house and vehicle under Customs act 1969.Further investigations were still under process.
