Multan RTO attaches two bank accounts of SNGPL due to tax default

MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office (RTO) has seized two different bank accounts of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited due to non-payment of taxes.

Sources told Customs Today that Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited is one of the major defaulters of the Regional Tax Office Multan. SNGPL has alleged outstanding taxes of Rs.2 billion in wake of sales taxes. The Regional Tax Office has issued several notices to defaulter for the payment of their outstanding taxes.

Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited is endlessly using deferring strategies for the payment of their due sales taxes to Regional Tax Office Multan. The Federal Board of Regional Tax Office has issued several notices for the collection of their due taxes to SNPGL but they have not responded up till now.

Sources told that the above said company is collecting huge amount of taxes from consumers in the region on the behalf of government but they are depositing these taxes to Regional Tax Office Multan on time. The Regional Tax Office authorities took special permission from Federal Board of Revenue to start action against them for recovery of outstanding sales tax amount and Multan tax authorities took strict action against them after getting green signal from high ups.

Commissioner Regional Tax Office Dr. Khalil formed special team to take strict action against SNGPL which have seized their two various bank accounts of Muzaffargarh during their action for the recovery of due taxes.

The Regional Tax Office Multan has started campaign for the recovery of outstanding taxes from defaulters before the end of current fiscal year to meet the assigned revenue target of the financial year 2017-18.

Local police were also called for assistance during this action from Multan tax authorities after resistance from management of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited.
