Multan RTO collects Rs6.24b during the month of April

MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office (RTO) has collected revenue of Rs6.24 billion during the month of April 2017-18.

Sources told Customs Today that the Federal Board of Revenue had assigned the revenue collection target of above Rs.7 billion to the Regional Tax Office Multan for the month of April under the heads of income tax, sales tax and federal excise duty (FED).

The Regional Tax Office was assigned the collection task of the income tax worth Rs.3.40 billion for the month of April in the existing fiscal year 2017-18. While the Regional Tax Office has collected Rs2.76 billion under the head of income tax till 30th April in the existing fiscal year 2017-18.

The Federal Board of Revenue has made revenue collection of Rs.57 million in wake of federal excise duty (FED) during month of April in the fiscal year 2017-18.Tax authorities of Regional Tax Office failed to achieve their assigned revenue targets during the month of April of the current economic year 2017-18.

Tax authorities has taken strict action against defaulters for the recovery of their outstanding taxes to meet the revenue task for the month of March but they failed to accomplish the assigned task for the month of April.

The Regional Tax Office has suffered almost Rs.760 million revenue shortfalls under the heads of various taxes after the completion of tax collection of April.

Meanwhile Regional Tax Office and several designated branches of National banks were open late for the collection of taxes on the direction of Federal Board of Revenue.
