Multan RTO recovers Rs5.2m from local govt

MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office (RT) attached the bank account of local government for the recovery of Rs5.2 million outstanding taxes.

According to details, District Local Government of Multan was issued several notices for payment of their outstanding taxes but they did not respond to Regional Tax Office Multan. Local Government of District Multan has not deposited withholding taxes to Regional Tax Office and they were reluctant to pay their taxes.

Commissioner Regional Tax Office Multan Withholding Zone Imtiaz Ahmad has directed his staff to take strict action against defaulters in order to meet the assigned revenue task before the end of March.

The Regional Tax Office Multan has attached the bank account of local government of District Multan for the recovery of Rs.5.2 million of withholding taxes. Said withholding taxes were determined on the allocated budget of local government. Commissioner withholding Zone formed special team including Inland Revenue Inspector Masood Ahmad, Inland Revenue Inspector Arshad Hussain and Inland Revenue Inspector Muhammad Rasheed for the recovery of outstanding amount of Rs.5.2 million after failing to recover their withholding taxes.

Recovery team attached the Official bank account of local government and recovered their Rs.5.2 million withholding taxes from defaulter.
