NAB apprehends accused in Rs 701 million modarba case

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Rawalpindi has taken custody of Khan Muhammad of Abdullah Traders, the main accused in Rs 701 million modarba case on charges of corruption, corrupt practices and cheating public at large in the ploy of Islamic mode of investment.

During investigation, it transpired that the accused person in connivance with each other induced public at large to invest the amount in their Abdullah Traders, illegal Modarba/Musharika business against attractive profits and thus looted the general public at large.

The arrest warrants of the accused person were issued by Director General (DG) NAB Rawalpindi. The accused was produced before the Accountability Court and the Court granted nine days physical remand of the accused.
Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Chaudhry meanwhile directed NAB authorities to speed up their efforts for recovery of looted money so as to return the money looted to its affectees.
NAB has arrested 20 accused persons so far in the Modarba scam that included Mufti Ehsan-ul-Haq, Mufti Ibrar-ul-Haq, Hafiz Muhammad Nawaz, Moeen Aslam, Obaidullah, Mufti Shabbir Ahmad Usmani, Sajjad Ahmed, Asif Javed, Ghulam Rasool Ayubi, M Hussain Ahmed, Hamid Nawaz, M Irfan, Bilal Khan Bangash, Matiur Rehman, Muhammad Numan Qureshi, Syed Aksheed Hussain, M Adil Butt, M Saqib, Umair Ahmed and Khan Muhammad.
