MULTAN: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested the former Vice Chancellor of Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan in embezzlement charges of Rs 925 million.
Ex- Vice Chancellor Khawaja Muhammad Alqama has violated the rules of university syndicate by giving the approval for the opening of BZU Lahore campus without taking permission. He was found involved in the massive irregularities in the establishment of BZU Lahore Sub Campus. The NAB was probing against former Vice Chancellor BZU since 2014 after receiving several complaints.
Ex- Vice Chancellor along with Lahore campus director Hamza Munir were arrested on the charges of misuse of authority and cheating public at large after the establishment of an illegal and sub-campus in Lahore. National Accountability Bureau has also arrested BZU Lahore Campus Director Hamza Munir on charges of misuse of authority and cheating the public at large for establishing an ‘illegal’ sub-campus.
Former VC BZU Khawaja Muhammad Alqama had also performed his duties as ambassador of Yemen for few years in the people party regime.
Details suggest the proprietors of the M/s West Continental Group, which ran by BZU Lahore, cheated the students by collecting Rs.925 million as admission fee and other dues.
