NAB arrests ex-SSP Lahore on corruption charges

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore arrested a retired police officer on corruption charges on Thursday night.

According to sources, Azad Kahot has served in Lahore as SSP for many years. During his tenure as SSP Lahore, he was involved in making money through unknown means. During investigations by NAB team, he failed to satisfy the interrogation team about his resources of earning money.

Sources said that worth of his assets is more than Rs 200 million which is not as per his previous salaries and other means of earning,  which indicates that he made all his assets though unfair and illegal means.

NAB also produced him before the Accountability Court Lahore and get a 16-day physical remand for further investigations.

NAB Punjab is very active against corrupt government officials and politicians during these days and investigations are launched against former opposition leader Punjab Assembly Chaudhary Zaheer Ahmad and Minister of Education Punjab Rana Mashood in bribery video scandal.
