Suspect involved in Rs 150m tax evasion discharged from PIMS

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) doctors have discharged Naeem Siddiqui, a suspect, involved in Rs 150 million tax evasion case as he was illegally admitted to the hospital, it is learnt here.

According to sources Directorate General Inland Revenue Intelligence and Investigation Department, the suspect is executive committee member of the Islamabad Chamber and Commerce and Industry and chairmen of its sales tax committee.

Sources added that the accused was succeeded in admit himself to PIMS as the doctors were on strike.

Sources said that the accused was admitted to the hospital illegally with the support of Dr Zulfiqar Ghouri. But Dr Javed Ikram took notice of the matter and discharged him.  The sources added that the Directorate General Inland Revenue Intelligence and Investigation Department wants to take action against the doctor who admitted the accused illegally.  Meanwhile, sources also added that the department will also try to get further remand of the suspect from the court.
