PESHAWAR: Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) visited NAB KPK Regional Bureau to review the performance evaluated by Chairman’s Inspection and Monitoring Team.
The Inspection and Monitoring Team was deputed to conduct annual inspection of NAB KPK Regional Bureau for the year 2015. The inspection was carried out from Feb 2, 2016 to February 4, 2016 in order to review and evaluate the performance of NAB KPK Bureau on the basis of newly introduced quantified grading system.
Senior member, Chairman’s Inspection and Monitoring Team along with his team conducted, the inspection for the year of 2015. He gave a detailed briefing to Chairman NAB about the inspection done and highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of NAB KPK Regional Bureau.
He informed that on the directions of the Chairman NAB, a quantified grading system has been devised. Under this grading system, the performance of all NAB’s Regional Bureaus is being evaluated during January and February 2016 at uniform criteria. 80% marks will be considered “Outstanding/Excellent”, between 60% to 79% will be considered as “Very Good”, and between 40% to 49% will be considered as “Good”, while marks less than 40% will be considered as “Below Average”.
He said NAB is committed to eradicate corruption across the board by adopting Zero Tolerance Policy throughout the country. Corruption is the mother of all evils. Corruption undermines development and rule of law. Corruption not only causes delays in the early completion of development projects but also causes huge losses to national exchequer.
Chairman NAB said that NAB KPK kept the NAB Flag high. NAB KPK is very important regional bureaus of NAB. It played prominent role in contributing towards the overall performance of NAB, he said. In 2015, NAB KPK received 4060 complaints which were all process according to the law. NAB KPK, out of 359 complaints verifications (CVs), completed 279 complaint verifications. NAB KPK, out of 339 inquiries, completed 222 whereas out of 96 investigations, completed 57 investigations on merit during 2015. NAB KPK has arrested 149 corrupts and filed 53 corruption references during 2015. The conviction rate was 80 percent. During 2015, NAB KPK has recovered Rs. 943.783 million during 2015.
Chairman Inspection and Monitoring Team in view of the assessed annual performance based on evaluation under quantified grading system prepared by the Chairman Inspection and Monitoring Team graded NAB KPK’s performance as Outstanding/Excellent with 80% Operational Efficiency Index (OEI).
Qamar Zaman Ch. said that under quantified grading system prepared by the Chairman Inspection and Monitoring Team has graded NAB KPK’s performance as Outstanding/Excellent with 80% Operational Efficiency Index (OEI). He appreciated the performance of NAB KPK under the supervision of Mr. Shahzad Saleem, DG NAB KPK. He directed all officers/officials of NAB KPK to work hard to further improve your performance. He further directed all ranks of officers/officials of NAB KPK to work more vigilantly and diligently in order to curb corruption and corrupt practices from the country. He said that CIMT has done good work. He said that there is always room for improvements; however good work always gets appreciated and shows commitment of the NAB Bureau.
