NAB decides to accelerate recovery drive of electricity defaulters of MEPCO‏

MULTAN: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to accelerate the recovery drive from electricity defaulters.

Chairing a meeting, DG NAB Brig (r) Farooq Nasir Awan urged the officials to accelerate the recovery process. The meeting was attended by Director, Additional Director (Staff), investigation officers NAB Multan, superintendent engineer and executive engineers of MEPCO Circle Office Multan.

DG NAB directed the staff to disconnect electricity of all defaulters. MEPCO will provide details of electricity defaulters and properties owned by them. He also said that the department will take action against any MEPCO official found involved in malpractices.

Superintendent MEPCO Engineer Akram Bhatti gave a detailed briefing on recovery position by informing that they have recovered Rs 3.169 million from 11 defaulters. So far, 193 out of 194 untraceable defaulters have been traced out through field surveys.

Farooq Nasir reiterated that recovery of electricity bills could be ensured if MEPCO and NAB work together. He stated that NAB will provide full support to MEPCO in recovery of defaulted amounts.
