The ceremony, held at the PAF Golf Club Karachi, on January 10, was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life. Prominent among those who attended the ceremony included Air Vice Marshal Abbas Ghuman, Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Sindh, Balochistan Commander, former Inspector General of Sindh police AD Khawaja, ex Inspector-General Motorway Zulfiqar Cheema, Additional Inspector General Dr. Ameer Shaikh, Chief Customs Yaqub Mako and leading cardiologist Dr. Nadeem Rizvi.

Karachi NAB Director-General Dr. Najaf Mirza is a seasoned and committed bureaucrat. He is known for his honesty and being a dedicated officer of the National Accountability Bureau, who played a key role in recovering the looted amount from the management of the Fazaia Housing Society and returning it to the affectees.

The fake accounts investigation took an interesting turn after Najaf Quli Mirza joined the top anti-corruption watchdog to expeditiously probe the multi-billion scam by assisting the Combined Investigation Teams (CITs) engaged to file all 16 references by Jan 2020.

Mirza was the first officer who started the probe into the fake accounts case soon after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) took up the case in November 2015 on the request of the Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU). However, he was removed from investigation after the Pakistan People’s Party objected to his partiality last year.
