Iqbal said that the bureau would not only recover the looted amount but also punish the people responsible for it. He added that the NAB’s utmost priority was to take the mega corruption cases to their logical conclusion, and that the bureau was firmly determined to make the country corruption free.

During the meeting, the overall performance of NAB Lahore was evaluated, especially the progress in the investigations of mega corruption cases of 56 Public Limited Companies, recovery of amount looted by certain housing societies, and cooperative companies in accordance with the law.

“NAB believes in accountability and taking action against the corrupt without caring about their position or status,” said the NAB chief.

He added that NAB had apprehended as many as 476 accused in last 11 months. The bureaus, he added, conducted complaint verification against 216 accused, inquiries against 239, and investigations against 79 and filed corruption references against 340 persons in relevant accountability courts.

NAB also recovered Rs2,410 million from the corrupt and deposited it into the national exchequer, he claimed.

The NAB chairman directed the officers to complete inquiries, investigations and complaint verifications within the prescribed time limit. He warned the officers against non-compliance to the orders.

He lauded the performance of NAB Lahore under the DG NAB and hoped that their performance would improve further.
