PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved filing of reference against Customs officials and exporter companies who approved fake export claims and caused loss of millions to the Customs exchequer at Torkham Customs Station.
The customs officials involved in facilitating fraudulent companies and took personal benefits by keeping back the national exchequer interests.
The decision was taken during a Regional Board Meeting (RBM) of KP NAB on Friday which was chaired by Director General Farmanullah Khan and attended by Directors, Deputy Prosecutor General (DPGA), case officers, and other concerned officers.
According to detail, KP NAB approved filing of reference against officials of Pakistan Custom Department (KP), M/s FAS Tube Mills, M/s Paramount Steel Traders & others regarding corruption and misuse of authority. The beneficiary accused persons in league with concerned customs officials dishonestly and fraudulently derived undue benefit from public exchequer in the form of duties and taxes exemption granted under DTRE Regime worth millions by making fake export claims at Customs Station Torkham.
The KP NAB DG vowed that as per directions of NAB Chairman Justice Javed Iqbal, the KP NAB is determined to do across the board accountability on the basis of solid evidence as per law.
He further said that eradication of corruption is not only social and moral obligation but it also ensures prosperous future of coming generations.
Further details about the officers of Customs department and involvement in corruption will be known after complete reference to be filed against them .
Till now NAB KP didn’t disclosed names of the customs officers found guilty for facilitating fake export claims and cheating department at large.
