NAB recovers Rs3.84b from corrupt elements in 2019

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) managed to make recoveries of Rs3,841.902 million or Rs3.84 billion from corrupt elements during 2019 and deposited into the national exchequer.

Out of this recovered amount, Rs3,827.753m were recovered through plea bargains while Rs14.149m had been recovered through voluntary returns, says a report issued by NAB on Thursday.

Recoveries in cases of voluntary return and plea bargain from all regional NABs were disbursed to the affectees, federal and provincial governments etc.

According to voluntary return details during 2019, the bureau had recovered Rs8.149m in January and Rs6m in May 2019.

The amount recovered through plea bargain during 2019 included Rs282.671m in January, Rs16.515m in February, Rs756.084m in March, Rs117.898m in April, Rs116.306m in May, Rs148.344m in June, Rs435.973 million in July, Rs 687.500m in August, Rs467.666 m in September, Rs262.613m in October, Rs185.515m in November and Rs350.668m had been recovered in December 2019.

Likewise, the accumulative amount recovered in 2019 included Rs290.820m in January 2019, Rs16.515m in February, Rs756.084m in March, Rs117.898m in April, Rs122.306m in May, Rs148.344m in June, Rs435.973m in July, Rs687.500m in August, Rs467.666m in September, Rs262.613m in October, Rs185.515m in November and Rs350.668m were recovered in 2019.
