Sindh NAB starts investigation into missing containers case

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sindh Region director general has started investigation into the Afghan Transit Trade (ATT) scam.
Sources informed Customs Today that the authorities concerned of NAB regional office started issuing summons to the clearing agents in order to record their statements in the scam.
They further said that the authorities concerned have clear directives from NAB Sindh Director General Col (r) Siraj Naeem to ensure transparency during the investigation.

Responding to a query, sources informed this scribe that the clearing agents from Peshawar would also be summoned in order to investigate the matter.

It is pertinent to mention here that DG Col (r) Siraj Naeem during his recent visit to the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) made it clear that NAB was investigating the missing containers’ cases with an open mind and no unjustified act would be conducted with any individual during the course of investigation.
It may also be mentioned here that NAB Sindh is generally handling and investigating the tax evasion cases related to the Sales Tax Act, 1990, and trying to recover the government exchequer.
