KARACHI: Secretary Aviation Shahrukh Nusrat Saturday said that National Aviation Policy (NAP) 2019 prepared in line with the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan and recently approved by the federal cabinet would help boost the industry. The NAP will also help overcome the challenges being faced by the Aviation industry in the country.
Addressing a press conference at Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Headquarters along with senior officials, representatives of chartered operators and Regular Public Transporters (RPTs), he said the policy formed after consultation with all stakeholders to make it a result oriented.
He said that Aviation Oversight Committee, having representation of all concerned stakeholder has also been formed for effective implementation of NAP-2019.
New Tourism Promotion and Regional Integration (TPRI) license with its requirements and conditions has been drafted. The work for segregation of regulatory function from service providers was also underway.
Shahrukh Nusrat informed that federal government has been requested for the provision of tax and duties exemption/reduction to the aviation sector which includes airport infrastructure development, flight catering services, aircraft manufacturing industry, maintenance repair organizations, import of aircraft including aircraft engines and spare parts and supplies of all specification, ground support equipment.
Sharing the salient features of the NAP-2019 he said the policy focuses on reduced cost of doing business, ease of doing business, promoting the tourism in the country, provision of improved and modern facilities at the airports.
Also present on the occasion representatives of chartered operators and RPTs hailed the NAP-2019 adding that it was happening first ever that the federal government has taken all the concerned stakeholder on board.
