New industrial policy need of hour, says PVMA chairman

KARACHI: Pakistan Vanaspati Mills Association (PVMA) Chairman Atif Ikram Shaikh has said that the industrialists have been waiting for new industrial policy, as dozens of industries have been closed due to energy crisis and poor law and order situation in the country.

Showing concerns on uncertain situation in the country, chairman said that dozens of industrial units have been closed due to which un-employment has been increased.

“The opportunities for young and educated people have been dried up in the country and it is impossible for them to find new jobs due to prevailing uncertain situation,” he added.

He said that the government has not yet formulated a new industrial policy even business community had given suggestions and proposals in this regard.

The chairman further said that the industries are playing pivotal role in boosting the economy of country as the industrial units are generating employment and paying billions of rupees tax.

He hoped that the government would take effective steps for the revival of industrial sector, as it will increase Pakistan’s export and reduce unemployment in the country.
