They demanded early solution to the problems faced by importers and Customs Clearing Agents at the Dry Port Peshawar, Torkham Customs Station and Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA) Peshawar.

The importers and exporters proposed that, besides bonded carriers for the transport of goods, the use of private trucks should also be allowed from Peshawar Dry Port to facilitate exporters to other parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The importers also highlighted the short availability of railway locomotives at Dry Port Peshawar, proceeding of imports/exports through one customs in the wake of difficulties in Web OC service, miserable condition of Peshawar Dry Port, delay in the establishment of Azakhel Dry Port, provision of facilities on Torkham border, conditional demand of Quarantine Certificate, bonded carrier and other difficulties confronted by them.

The importers remarked that Dr Muhammad Saeed Khan Jadoon has already served as Additional Director, Transit Trade and Additional Collector, Customs Peshawar, and is fully aware of the problems so he is expected to resolve the problems of clearing agents on priority.

Talking to the delegation, Collector Saeed assured the importers and exporters of his full cooperation and said he will take steps to remove hurdles with the mutual consultation of the importers and customs clearing agents.

The delegation thanked the collector customs and showed a commitment to follow the customs bylaws made to provide suitable environment for the importers and exporters.
