Executive Director of NICVD, Prof. Nadeem Qamar, said the institute has been providing state-of-the-art heart healthcare services to the people in need, without any distinction.

During past two and half years NICVD has launched series of programs for the people of Karachi and other parts of the province, he said.

These were cited to include free of cost services for all in-patients and out-patients (general) besides establishment of chain of Chest Pain Units in different localities of Karachi.

NICVD, he said is also expanding its OPD facility with separate provision for paediatric cardiac unit, adult cardiology and rehabilitation blocks.

The Satellite Centres established in interior parts of Sindh were said to be another milestone as NICVD Larkana has been functional since May 2017 while those in Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Sehwan and Sukkur are to be operational by the end of the year.

These satellite clinics were said to be providing free cardiac emergency, primary PCI (angioplasty during heart attack) and adult / paediatric cardiology services.

According to Prof. Qamar three more such centers will materialize in 2018 at Nawabshah, Khairpur and Mithi respectively.

This network of NICVD satellites will be providing prompt and easily accessible cardiac services to the people at their doorstep, he said.
