No safe water for 63m people: KP marks World Water Day

PESHAWAR: The World Water Day has also been marked in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the Al-Khidmat Foundation, Peshawar chapter held a walk to create awareness about the importance of drinking water.

Foundation Deputy General Secretary Fazlullah Daudzai led the walk that was held on Sher Shah Suri Road. The participants of the walk were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans about access to safe drinking water.

The speakers said that access to safe drinking water was the birth right of everyone. They said that four out of five people across the globe lacked access to clean drinking water. They said that 63 million people in Pakistan did not have access to safe potable water. They said more than 250,000 people died of waterborne diseases in every five years in Pakistan. They demanded the government to ensure provision of safe drinking water to citizens.
