To a query regarding extra charges for non tax payers, Chief Post Master, GPO, Muhammad Nawaz told APP that the tax payers bringing valid tax certificates from FBR are verified online and not charged extra amount.

The salaried class is exempted from tax certificates as their tax is automatically deducted from their salaries but they have to submit the FBR’s tax payer list showing his name.

The Chief Post Master informed that in routine, the GPO entertains about 5,000 customers on monthly basis but in July, it deals with as many as 25,000 token fee payers.

Muhammad Nawaz said that extra counters had been set up for collection of taken fee and he himself monitors the performance of the staff deployed on these counters.

He set aside the perception that people had to wait for a long time in queues for depositing their token fee at the post offices.

Mushtaq Ahmed, a token fee payer at GPO said that he felt no difficulty while submitting his dues as the staff was cooperating and the system was functioning smoothly.

On this occasion, he proposed that Pakistan Post Office should start an online system for payment of token fee which could be more convenient and save the time of fee payers.
