DOHA: The output of non-oil, non-gas sectors (NONG) of Qatar grew by QR44.1bn, or 13.08 percent in 2014٫ compared to a 12.98 percent increase during the previous year, to hit QR381.6bn last year. The NONG contributed around 141.2 percent of the total GDP growth at current prices during 2014.
The performances of the NONG sectors were mostly positive during 2014; as all NONG sectors have witnessed an increase in their nominal GDP٫ Qatar Central Bank’s (QCB) annual report for the year 2014 noted.
Among the NONG sectors, the commodity production sectors witnessed an increase by more than QR12bn and 10.7 percent compared to an increase of 7.6 percent in 2013٫to reach QR125.6bn.
Commodity production sectors represented 32.9 percent of the NONG nominal GDP٫ compared to 33.6 percent in the previous year. All commodity production sectors recorded a positive growth during 2014.
Similarly٫ the nominal output of the services sectors witnessed a positive growth but lower than a year ago where it increased by QR32bn٫ or 14.3 percent٫ in 2014 compared to a 15.9 percent in 2013٫ reaching around QR256bn. All Services sectors have witnessed positive growth rates.
The nominal output of the Finance٫ Insurance٫ Real Estate and Business Services sector all grew by QR18.6bn and 20.5 percent, compared to QR15.8bn or 21.3 percent in 2013.
Thus٫ its output increased to QR 109.2bn from QR 90.6bn. However, its relative share in the overall NONG GDP has increased from 26.9 percent in 2013 to 28.6 percent in 2014٫ maintaining its first rank among NONG sectors.
The output of the Building and Construction sector continued accelerating in growth rate to 22.3 percent compared to 13.5 percent in 2013.
The nominal output of the Transport and Communication sector grew by QR3bn or 12.2 percent compared to an increase of 4.8 percent in the previous year. The nominal output of the sector stood at QR27.6bn compared to QR24.6bn in 2013.
The output of the Electricity and Water sector witnessed a rise by QR370m or 9.8 percent compared 11.4 percent growth in 2013.
The output of the Agriculture and Fishing sector grew by 9.5 percent compared to 8.4 percent in the previous year.
The growth rate of the nominal output of the Trade, Restaurants and Hotels sector declined during 2014 to 14.9 percent compared to 15.9 percent in the previous year.
The nominal output of the services sector increased during 2014 by 5.8 percent and QR3.7bn to reach around QR 67.2bn compared to QR63.5bn in the previous year.
Most of the increase has occurred in the government services, which accounted for 64.9 percent of the total increase.
