North Region generates Rs230m more duties & taxes than allocated target

ISLAMABAD: The Customs North Region collected over Rs230million of extra all duties and taxes during the first two weeks of December Financial Year 2017-18.

According to details given by official sources of the North Region, comprising Customs Collectorates of Islamabad, Peshawar, Samberial and Gilgit-Baltistan, it earned Rs1517.12million of all duties and taxes against the assigned revenue target of Rs1280.57million. During the first two weeks of corresponding December FY17-18, the North generated Rs1022.10million under the same head.
The sources notified CT that, during above said period, the Collectorate of Islamabad received Rs672.32million of all duties and taxes whereas the collectorate was allocated a proportional target of Rs503.53million under the same head. The collectorate got Rs518.61million under all the heads during the same period of previous FY16-17.
The collectorate collected Rs638.11million under all the heads during the first two weeks of December FY17-18 while it was earmarked Rs665.72million. The collectorate earned less revenue of Rs27.61million than the allocated proportional revenue target under all the heads. Sources told CT that the Collectorate of Peshawar generated Rs305million under all the heads during the same period of corresponding FY16-17.
Sources added that the Collectorate of Samberial received Rs-0.70million against a proportional target of Rs-22.67million under the head of all taxes for the first two weeks of December FY17-18. The collectorate got Rs13.25million of all taxes during the same period of previous FY16-17.
The Collectorate of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) collected Rs205.99million under all the heads during the first two weeks of FY17-18 whereas it was earmarked a proportional revenue target of Rs133.99million under all the heads. The GB generated Rs185.12million under all the heads during the same period of FY16-17.
