LAHORE: National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDCL) has constructed a 500 KV grid station and nine of 220 KV grid stations that increased the number of NTDCL’s 500 KV and 220 KV grid stations up to 13 and 36, respectively.
While, huge capacity of 6120 MVA project have also been completed with a cost of Rs 29,045 million in these grid stations.
The Company’s has 5072 kilo meter long transmission lines of 500 KV and 9631 kilo meter long lines of 220KV.
With the completion of above said projects during last two years, the NTDCL system capacity increased by 6120 MVA thus raising the company’s system capacity to 27300 MVA from 21180 MVA.
This was disclosed in a meeting chaired by Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali to review progress on the ongoing transmission lines and grid station projects of the NTDCL here at WAPDA House on Saturday.
MOW&P Additional Secretary Umar Rasool, MOW&P Joint Secretary (NTDCL) Zaffar Abbas, the NTDCL Managing Director Muhammad Arshad Chaudhry attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the minister was apprised about the reasons for delay in completion of the NTDCL projects. The officers concerned said projects could not be completed timely mainly because of late funding of foreign donors, retendering of projects, land acquisition issues, security and law and order situation and under projects, which were not giving proper time and funds.
Abid Sher Ali directed the authorities concerned to re-evaluate the delayed projects as well as point out the itches in these projects so that these could be taken up at appropriate forums for their early solution.
The minister also given three projects completion packages of six months each (from July 2015 to December 2016) so as to improve the power transmission and generation in the country.
The meeting was told that during last two years (from July 2013 to June 2015), the NTDCL completed the following projects:
The grid stations included a 500 KV at Dera Ghazi Khan, and nine of 220 KV each at Shalamar (Lahore), Khuzdar (Balochistan), Bandala (of Gas Insulated System-GIS), Okara, Toba Tek Singh, Kassuwal (Lahore), Ghazi Road Lahore (temporary), Rohri (Sindh) and Loralai Balochistan (of Air Insulated System-AIS).
The transmission lines included in/out Guddu-Multan line to connect 500 KV D.G.Khan grid station, 274-kilometer Dadu-Khuzdar 220 KV transmission line, 132 KV line to connect Orient Power to the main system, 220 KV D.G.Khan-Laralai line, 132 KV transmission lines at Jhampeer and Thatta to connect various power plants to national grid.
Replacement of 220/132 KV 160MVA auto transformer with 250 MVA transformer at 500 KV Sheikh Muhammadi; replacement of two 220/132 KV 160 MVA auto transformers with 250 MVA transformer at 220 KV Bahawalpur Grid Station; replacement of four 220/132 KV 160 MVA auto transformer with 250MVA transformer at 220 KV Bund Road Grid Station Lahore and replacement of a 220/132kv 160MVA auto transformer with 250MVA transformer at 220 KV Ghazi Road Lahore. Similarly, 500/220 KV 600 MVA transformers installed each at 220 KV Burhaan Grid Station and Ghazi Barotha Grid Station.
