Offending truck loaded with smuggled items taken into possession by Islamabad ASO

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization Islamabad impounded various smuggling goods along with an offending vehicle (Vehicle used for smuggling goods) valued at Rs 1.7 million on Islamabad Motorway toll plaza.

According to details given by Assistant Collector Majid Hussain Gaad while talking with Customs Today that the ASO staff received a tip-off last night that a Mazda truck with registration No: MIL-714 is loaded with a huge quantity of different smuggling goods.
The ASO staff set up a picket near Motorway toll plaza and took into possession the said offending vehicle. The ASO staff asked the possessor of foreign origin smuggling goods to prove the legal status of the goods or provide any other proof, but he failed to prove anything like this.
The seized smuggling goods comprise 1000 kilogram of black tea, 24 kg of baby blankets, 57 kg of foreign origin schoolbags worth Rs0.7million. Majid told CT that the ASO staff also impounded the offending vehicle. The total value of the offending vehicle was estimated at Rs1.0million.
Following the guidelines from Dr. Saeed Khan Jadoon, Collector of MCC Islamabad, and Chief Collector North Sarwat Tahira Habib, the performance of the ASO Islamabad has been geared up.
