Offending truck loaded with smuggling satellite receivers & other items impounded

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization Islamabad took into possession foreign origin smuggling satellite receivers and other goods along with an offending vehicle valued at Rs1.91million on Tuesday (24th October 2017) from Peshawar-Rawalpindi GT Road.

According to details given by Majid Hussain Gaad, Assistant Collector, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad, that, on a tip-off given by Collector Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Islamabad, the ASO Islamabad set up a picket and intercepted a Mazda Mini truck bearing registration No: 8974. After the interception, the ASO staff asked the possessor of the smuggling goods to show any relevant document in support of items that they are not smuggled ones, but he failed to prove anything legal.
The impounded goods comprise 240 pieces of foreign origin satellite receivers, 800 electrodes, 300 baby gifts and 70 kilogram of green tea. The value of the confiscated items is Rs0.917million while the impounded Mazda truck’s estimated value is Rs1.00million.
The ASO staff shifted the seized goods to State Ware House and registered an FIR against the notorious smuggler. The case has been forwarded to Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) Department for further action.
