Offending vehicle loaded with 185487 yard cloth worth Rs116.34m impounded

PESHAWAR: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Peshawar took into possession 185487 yards of foreign origin fabric along with other various smuggling goods and an offending vehicle valued at Rs116.34million. The operation was executed near the Motorway Entry Point Peshawar.

According to details explained by Deputy Collector ASO Peshawar Fazli Shakoor that, on an actionable tip-off shared by Collector Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar, a big quantity of foreign origin smuggling items will enter into Punjab from Peshawar. Shakoor added that the ASO Peshawar set up a picket near the Motorway and intercepted a container trailer bearing registration No: C-1255.
Deputy Collector further told CT that, after the interception of said vehicle, the ASO staff asked the possessor of goods to show any relevant document but he failed to prove anything legal. So the ASO staff took into possession the smuggling goods along with the offending vehicle and deposited the items into State Ware House.
An FIR has been lodged and a case forwarded to the Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) Department for further investigation under the Customs ACT-1969. The impounded goods comprised foreign origin polyester cloth measured 185487 yards worth Rs92.74million, foreign origin woolen cloth measured 4110 yards priced at Rs3.2million, 1680 imported digital receivers worth Rs8.4million. The ASO staff also impounded the container trailer valued at Rs12.00million.
