Pak Customs to return back banned garlic to India

LAHORE: The Pakistan Customs had intercepted 15 trucks loaded with contaminated banned Indian garlic at Wagah Land Freight Unit (LFU).

Sources told Customs Today that Director General Plant Protection Department of Pakistan has ordered the concerning authorities to waste and dump the illicit garlic or return back to India.

Source said that 15 trucks loaded with 335 tons of garlic were intercepted by the customs and other authorities at Wagha border and was proved rotten and contaminated by the laboratories.

Earlier, it was learnt that some importers, after getting approval certificates from private laboratories, started importing banned Indian garlic.

While, examining the imported items, Plant Protection Department found fungus and chemicals which are dangerous for human health.
