KARACHI: Pakistan Customs has successfully deployed the Pre-Arrival Clearance module in the Web-Based One Customs (WeBOC) and Pakistan Single Window (PSW) systems.
This development was announced by Sanaullah Abro, Director Customs Reform & Automation, during an Interactive Awareness Seminar held in collaboration with the Karachi Customs Agents Association (KCAA) on February 23, 2024.
The Pre-Arrival Customs Clearance module is a significant enhancement to the WeBOC and PSW systems, allowing members of the trade community to seamlessly file Goods Declarations (GDs) for pre-arrival shipments. This strategic deployment is expected to streamline clearance processes, reduce delays, and enhance overall operational efficiency at the ports.
The Interactive Awareness Seminar served as a crucial platform for sharing insights on the latest advancements in customs procedures. Conducted by Sanaullah Abro, alongside Mushtaq Ali Shahani, Additional Director, and Ms. Promela Jacob, Deputy Director, the event witnessed active participation from members of the trade community.
The seminar, held both physically at the KCAA Head Office and virtually through an online Zoom session, ensured broader accessibility for stakeholders across the country. Participants had the opportunity to raise various issues faced by the trade, business community, and customs agents. Mr. Sanaullah Abro, in his role as the Director of Reform, addressed these concerns, emphasizing the commitment to resolving challenges in collaboration with the trade community.
The open dialogue during the seminar not only facilitated issue resolution but also allowed for a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by the trade community. Sanaullah Abro expressed his commitment to providing full cooperation, ensuring a smoother and more transparent customs clearance process.
The Directorate of Reform & Automation extended its appreciation for the pivotal role played by the Customs Agents Community in contributing to the country’s economy and meeting revenue targets. Special recognition was given to the Karachi Customs Agents Association for successfully organizing the seminar, reflecting the collaborative spirit between the government and the private sector.
