Pakistan Customs set up vigilance section to fight corruption

SIALKOT: The Pakistan Customs has made a plan to set up a vigilance section in all Customs Collectorates in the country to check the official activities during duty hours.

A Customs official told Customs Today that the vigilance section is the need of time and this section will play a vital role in to eradicating corruption from the department. He said that this section was set up in the eras of President of Pakistan Ziaul Haq and President Pervez Musharraf whereas the present government is agree to set up this section in Customs Department.

He said that experienced and honest persons will be appointed in this section because the main aim of this section to eradicate the corruption from the department. He said that customs collectors will look after the process of vigilance section while they also work with mutual consent of the employees of vigilance section. He said the employees of vigilance section will detain any official in corruption then they will inform immediately collector and he will take action against guilty official while he will start inquiry against corrupt official on report of employees of vigilance section. He told if the official will prove guilty then the collector will bound to terminate him from service and deprive right of any appeal to higher authorities and court concerned. He told that the employees of vigilance section will monitor all Customs Department officials on secret basis whereas they will not introduce himself before any official. He told the vigilance section will be 100% fair and the vigilance employees will never involve any innocent official in any corruption case rather they detain real corrupt official.
