Ombudsman to hear complaints against customs, FIA, PIA and Pakistan Railways
SIALKOT: The federal government has approved to set up Regional Directorate of Federal Ombudsman in Gujranwala that will start work within three months whereas 1,500 inquiries of the region will be transferred from Islamabad and Lahore to it.
A regional director and five investigation officers will be appointed at the office whereas it will provide justice to the residents of Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Hafizabad and Mandi Bahauddin by settling applications filed against federal institutions and departments and it is a vital step to provide justice to people on their doorstep.
This was disclosed by Senior Advisor of Federal Ombudsman Mohsin Asad and Advisors Malik Muhammad Iqbal and Abdul Basit Khan in a meeting at Gujranwala Press Club. They told that the time frame for decision on application has been declared for 45 days and in this time limit all application will be decided by the Federal Ombudsman.
They told the citizens are sending application against customs, FIA, FBR, EOBI, Pakistan Railways, PIA, passport department, etc. They added that citizens could file application in written or by online system.
They said about 6 million Pakistanis are residing in abroad and the doors of Federal Ombudsman are open 24 hours to listen their complaints, adding that the department will talk with overseas Pakistanis using latest technology i.e. Skype, Viber Immo, etc to decide the case. Federal Ombudsman Salman Faruqi personally monitor all cases, they concluded.
