Pakistan imports items worth Rs 993 million from India

Rs 17.3 million duty, Rs 11.99 million sales tax, Rs 142,436 additional sales tax and Rs 49.09 million income tax collected during third trading week of October

 

LAHORE: Pakistan Customs collected Rs 78.54 million on the import of items worth Rs 993.83 million from India via Wahga border during the third trading week of October of the current year.

As per details, Pakistan imported potatoes, tomatoes, garlic and polyethylene during 16-22 October from India.

According to documents, Pakistan bought 115 metric tonnes of potatoes worth Rs 5.5 million. The local government imposed no duty on the import of potatoes.

Similarly, Pakistan imported 14852 metric tonnes of tomatoes worth Rs 701.54 million, while Rs 42 million was generated through income tax and Rs 6,669 duty was paid on the import of tomatoes.

On the other hand, garlic worth Rs 5.68 million was imported and Rs 341,216 income tax was collected during the third trading week of October.

Documents show that Pakistan imported 13.15 metric tonnes of fruits (H.S Code 709-6000) worth Rs 978,132, while Rs 48,907 duty and Rs 61,623 income tax was collected. Ginger worth Rs 68.94 million was imported, while Rs 10.34 million duty and Rs 4.75 million income tax were collected.

Carbon dioxide worth Rs 6.02 million was imported and Rs 301,304, Rs 1.07 million and Rs 409,169 were collected under the heads of duty, sales tax and income tax respectively.

Pakistan imported polyethylene with gravity less than 0.94 worth Rs 70.98 million, while the customs collected Rs 612,158, Rs 2.18 million and Rs 258,513 under the heads of duty, sales tax and income tax.

Pakistan also imported cotton yarn worth Rs 24.24 million, polypropylene worth Rs 21.67 million, oil-cake and other solid residues worth Rs 18.68 million and vapour power units worth Rs 69.55 million during the third trading week of October of the current fiscal year.

As a whole, Pakistan’s import stood at Rs 993.83 million, while total paid duty remained Rs 17.3 million, sales tax Rs 11.99 million, additional sales tax Rs 142,436 and income tax Rs 49.09 million from India via Wahga Border.
