Pakistan, Iran agree to enhance bilateral trade

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Iran here on Thursday agreed on enhancing bilateral trade, believing there was lot of potential for cooperation in this realm.

There was also agreement on continued engagement between the two brotherly countries in various spheres and in this regard both the sides emphasized frequent exchange of visits at various levels, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance here today.

Agreement to this effect was made during a luncheon hosted by Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here in the honor of the visiting Iranian Foreign Minister, Javad Zarif and members of the accompanying delegation.

Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Tariq Fatemi and Federal Minister for Planning & Development, Ahsan Iqbal were also present.

In a meeting preceding the lunch, the Finance Minister exchanged views with the Iranian Foreign Minister on Pak-Iran economic cooperation.

Javad Zarif recalled the recent meeting of the Joint Pak-Iran Commission which he said went very well in terms of furthering cooperation.
