KARACHI: Shipping activity in Pakistan has remained uninterrupted despite tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, with oil tankers continuing to arrive and discharge fuel supplies at Karachi port.
As per reports, the Pakistan National Shipping Company’s tanker MT Sargodha has already unloaded crude oil from Fujairah, while two more vessels, MT Shalimar and MT Lahore, are expected to berth to discharge additional shipments.
Another vessel, MT Martini, is scheduled to dock to load surplus fuel oil produced locally.
Port operations also included other tankers such as MT Hafnia Henriette and MT Wan HE, which berthed to load naphtha and ethanol, while MT Eva Gold departed after loading ethanol cargo.
Karachi port handled over 60,554 tonnes of containerised cargo, including 58,366 tonnes of imports and 2,188 tonnes of exports. Two ships also offloaded 1,388 tonnes of imported soybean meal.
Export activity included shipments of 611 tonnes of rice by three vessels, bringing total cargo handling across liquid, dry and bulk segments to around 80,000 tonnes on Sunday.
Authorities said 19 cargo ships are expected to berth at the port on Monday, indicating continued shipping activity despite regional disruptions.
