KARACHI: Pakistan’s trade deficit with Saudi Arabia narrowed by 18.37 percent during the first two months of the current fiscal year, mainly due to a sharp decline in imports, sources said.
The trade deficit with Saudi Arabia stood at $471 million during July and August 2026, compared with $577 million in the corresponding period last year.
Pakistan imported goods worth $569 million from Saudi Arabia during the two-month period, down 16.2 percent from $679 million recorded in July-August last year.
Exports to Saudi Arabia also declined, though at a much slower pace.
Pakistan exported goods worth $98 million to Saudi Arabia during July and August 2026, compared with $102 million in the same period last year.
The figures showed that exports to Saudi Arabia fell by 3.92 percent year-on-year during the first two months of FY27.
The larger decline in imports compared with exports helped reduce Pakistan’s bilateral trade deficit with Saudi Arabia by $106 million from a year earlier.
