Parties seek time for more arguments in a case filed by MCC Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court Division Bench dated in office the hearing after the parties submitted record and sought time for more arguments in a case filed by Model Customs Collectorate on Wednesday.

The IHC Bench, comprising of Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, earlier dated in office the hearing.

The bench also directed the counsel from the respondent to ensure presence on the next date of hearing for final arguments.

Earlier, the bench had relisted the matter for rehearing during the next week along with other similar cases.

Collector Customs had filed the case against Nusrat Yaqoob. The matter was pending with the court since 2014.

Meanwhile, the bench also dated in office the hearing in the cases submitted by M/s Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited. The bench also heard another tax matter filed by M/s Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited. The appellant had challenged a show cause notice issued by the Large Taxpayers Unit Islamabad.

M/s Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited had contested the show cause notices issued by the field offices of the Federal Board of Revenue. M/s Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited had challenged the recovery of outstanding Sales Tax by the LTU Islamabad.

M/s Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited had submitted that the department had issued a notice for the tax year 2010 under the head of Sales Tax.
the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), officers of the LTU including Commissioner Inland Revenue, Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) and Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) were made respondent in the case.
