PATCO signs MoUs for producing export quality fruit, veg

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council Agrotech Company (PATCO) signed three memorandum of understandings (MoUs) with different companies for technical and scientific cooperation to promote agriculture in the country.

The MoUs were signed with M/s Durrani Associates, Karachi; M/s Iftikhar Ahmed and Company, Karachi and M/s. Fauji Fresh and Freez Limited, Lahore.

PATCO carry out business of marketing and promotion of Research and Development (R&D) products and services developed by PARC. Its research and other centres are operating under the National Agricultural Research System (NARS).

Under the MoUs, M/s Durrani Associates (DA) Karachi and M/s Iftikhar Ahmad & Company (IAC) Karachi will avail technical consulting services for the establishment of Tissue Culture Laboratory(s) in DA utilizing with PARC expertise and experience for the production and multiplication of banana in Sindh on commercial lines.

On the other hand, M/s Fauji Fresh and Freez Limited (FFF) Lahore will set up a comprehensive testing and certification facility in collaboration with PARC expertise and experience.

The facility would be utilized for testing and certification of products for effective food safety and quarantine control to bridge the gaps in the development of efficient supply chain for horticulture and food products.
