KARACHI: The Directorate of Customs Post Clearance Audit (PCA) detected duties and tax evasion of Rs9.54 million by M/s G B Garments and Exports, it is learnt here on Friday.
Sources told Customs Today that M/s G B Garments and Export (Sher Shah) Karachi imported a consignment of fabric printed colors, blank fabric, silk and Banarsi and got it cleared from the QICT Karachi vide GDs on January 12, 2018 by paying customs duty low at 12 percent after claiming the benefit of the SRO 562/2007.
However, the subject items were correctly classifiable under the PCT 2508.2477 attracting customs duty at 16 percent and income tax at 8 percent, thus, by way of mis-declaration of classification, the company evaded/short-paid Rs 9.54 million. The goods were cleared by Appraiser Mukhtar Elahi.
