PCA recovers Rs 40.37 m tax evasion from PTCL, Telenor, Mobilink

LAHORE: The Directorate of Customs Post Clarence Audit (PCA) Lahore has recovered Rs 40.37 million evaded tax from three telecommunication companies M/s PTCL, M/s Telenor and M/s Mobilink.

According to details, the PCA Lahore detected evasion of duty and taxes of Rs 76.84 million from seven telecommunication companies. These companies included PTCL, Telenor, Mobilink, Zong, Huawai Tech and Wi-Tribe.

The PTCL was detected with evaded tax amount of Rs 2.21 million, Telenor, Rs 29.08 Mobilink, Rs 15.36 million Zong, Rs 28.83 million Huawai Tech, and Wi-Tribe Rs 0.61 million.

Sources told Customs Today that PTCL, Telenor and Mobilink when were approached with detection of evasion of duty and taxes got agreed to deposited the evaded taxes.

However, Zong, Huawai Tech, Telenor and Witribe is yet to deposit the evaded duty and taxes due to them.

It was said that the companies evaded the duty and taxes on the import of telecommunication equipment and for the remaining evaded amount’s recovery; the PCA is engaged with the concerned officials of the companies.
