PCA unearths 14 cases of tax evasion involving Rs24.27m of revenue

KARACHI: Newly appointed Director of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) Nadeem Memon is showing excellent performance against defaulters.

Source said the Directorate of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) has detected 14 cases of tax evasion involving revenue of Rs24.27million.

Sources told reporter that Directorate of Post Clearance Audit, headed by Director Nadeem Memon, uncovered cases pertaining to short payment of customs duty and sales tax/ and withholding tax (WHT) because of inadmissible concessions, short payment of anti-dumping duty, additional sales tax, federal excise duty and income tax.

The directorate served six contravention reports and eight observations during 26 days of September involving total duty and taxes of Rs24.27million.

The companies served audit observations or contravention M/s Rabil and sons and M/s Arsalan Garments and Export Gulbai.

Directorate General of Post Clearance Audit (PCA) Nadeem Memon directed all the relevant officials and teams to expedite their efforts to recover the outstanding amount from defaulters.

It is necessary to mention here that the Post Clearance Audit is using all available resources to detect cases involving tax evasion and mis-declaration. The directorate served four contravention reports and six observations during 22 days of September involving total duty and taxes of Rs10.12million. The companies served audit observations or contravention M/s Zafar Brothers and M/s Noshad and company.

Sources said Post Clearance Audit (PCA) is study four more cases about tax evasion, and the result will be come shortly.
