PCG arrests 290 illegal immigrants

KARACHI: Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in a joint operation have apprehended 290 illegal immigrants including 266 Afghans from Nalient area at Coastal Highway, Gwadar.

According to PCG Spokesman Safeer Mehdi, in the first operation a team comprising officials from FIA and PCG arrested 240 illegal immigrants including 216 Afghan nationals and 24 others hailing from different parts of the country. These individuals were to be transported to Gulf and European countries.

He said in another operation 50 Afghan nationals were apprehended by Pakistan Coast Guards near Winder at RCD Highway. These individuals were travelling from Quetta to Karachi. The illegal immigrants were planning to cross Pakistan border using different land and sea routes. The individuals have been handed over to FIA immigration authorities for further legal action.
