Peshawar ASO foils bid to smuggle huge quantity of non-duty paid tyres

PESHAWAR: Customs Collectorate continued its anti-smuggling drive and have seized NDP tyres worth millions at Nowshera.

The Customs officials informed Customs Today that the operation carried out after the directives of chairman FBR to cut off the increasingly trend of smuggling of non-duty paid tyres which become the reason for production of genuine tyres industry .

Sources told that on Sunday they thwarted the attempt of smuggling tyres and NDP vehicles on main GT road. The Customs Anti smuggling squad established a check post in order to trace down trade of NDP goods through the main road.

According to detail the NDP tyres were being smuggled from Punjab to KhyberPakhtunkhwa when the vehicle was seized the drivers told the authorities.

The Customs Anti smuggling squad nowshehra have arrested the culprits and filed FIR for further investigation to reach the main suspects behind the trade of NDP goods in such a big quantity.

Thel two drivers were arrested along three other people who have been shifted to customs quarters.

The Customs high ups have appreciated performance of ASO and directed the deputy collector to increase the facilitation with other law enforcement agencies in order to curb the evil of smuggling NDP goods.

The smuggled goods not only curse for increasing trade but also a risk for establishment stable national economy.
