Peshawar ASO seizes charas, opium worth Rs 1.7m

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organisation, Peshawar seized charas valued at Rs 700,000 and opium worth Rs 1 million during first quarter (July-September) of financial year 2016-17.

According to the details, the Peshawar ASO did not confiscate heroin during the said period. But, it confiscated 13 kilogramme of charas, while the quantity of seized charas stood at 745kg during same corresponding period of last year 2015-16.

It seized 10kg opium during the first quarter of running fiscal year, while it confiscated 11kg opium during same period of last year.

As a whole, the department seized narcotics worth Rs 1.7 million, while it confiscated drugs worth Rs 46.3 million during first quarter of previous year.

Officials said that the department has enhanced vigilance all over the country in order to curb drugs trafficking. They added that assistance from other law enforcement agencies was also being getting to tighten noose around drug traffickers.
