Peshawar ASO seizes contraband items worth Rs 49.2m in May

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Peshawar, confiscated contraband items worth Rs 49.2 million during the outgoing month, May, 2016.

Peshawar Customs Additional Collector Fazla-e-Samad told Customs Today that under the supervision of Collector Qurban Ali Khan, the anti-smuggling squad busted various smuggling attempts in the region.

He said the officials impounded a Toyota Hiace Surf worth Rs 1.5 million, foreign origin cloth worth Rs 6.091 million from Bara market and from other places, black tea and cigarettes worth Rs 13.191 million, auto parts and tyres worth Rs 14.528 million and miscellaneous items worth Rs 43,500.

He said that the staff of the Peshawar has expedited efforts to generate revenue in order to meet the target for current fiscal year 2015-16.
