PESHAWAR: The Bacha Khan International Airport has collected an amount of Rs 18.63 million during the month of October of current Financial Year 2017-18 which is Rs3 million more than Rs 15.63 million collected in October of previous Fiscal Year 2016-17.
The sources in Air Freight Unit (AFU) of Pakistan Customs at Bacha Khan International Airport informed Customs Today on Wednesday that the AFU have registered four cases in October for smuggling of drugs through Peshawar Airport against which cases have been also registered.
The BKIAP collected Rs 4.58 million customs duty (CD) in which it had done Rs 0.97 through selling of miscellaneous goods which were seized during different seizures. The Peshawar Airport earned Rs 0.17 million revenue by collection of Regulatory Duty (RD) on imported goods in October of current Fiscal Year 2017-18.
In the same way BKIAP collected an amount of Rs5.06 million under the head of sales tax on items along Rs 0.53 million generated from sales tax on VM com imports. The airport collected federal excise duty (FED) of Rs 4.23 million during the month of October FY 2017-18.
The sources said that Assistant Collector at Bacha Khan International Airport Miss Sadaf has directed the Customs officials to perform their duties strictly for causing more frustration to smugglers.
It is necessary to mention here that Collector of Customs Collectorate of Peshawar Gul Rehman has already directed customs staff deputed at Bacha Khan Airport to use all available resources to curb the smuggling attempts through the airport.
