Peshawar Customs collected 9pc less revenue as compared to last year

PESHAWAR: The revenue collection by the Modal Custom Collectorate Peshawar remained 9 pc less than  April 2014, showing the figure of total collection at Rs 1123.80 million in gross in April 2015 as compare to the previous April 2014 which recorded Rs 1236.55 million.

According to statistical branch of Custom House, the Peshawar Collectorate collected custom duties worth Rs 388.12 million in April 2015 in gross while the figure was Rs 415.54 million in the previous April of 2014, the difference in rupees were 27.42 million while the deference in percentage was 6.60 percent less than the previous year April 2014.

The value of sale tax on import for April 2015 was Rs 305 million in gross while same value for the year of 2014 in term of sale tax on imports was Rs 379.42 million, the total difference in rupees was 73.95 million while the total difference in percentage was 19.49 million.

In the head of sale tax levies as Federal Excise Duty the Collectorate collected Rs 160.41 million against previous April 2014 which was Rs 224.51 million in gross higher as compare to the ongoing financial year of 2015.  The difference in rupees was 64.10 million while in percentage the difference was -28.55 percent.

Similarly the collection under the head of sale tax value addition on commercial importers was Rs 39.96 million in month of April 2015, which was Rs 49.61 million in April 2014. The difference of value between the two years was Rs 9.65 million while the difference in percentage was 19.45 percent less than the previous year.

Likewise Federal Excise Duty on import for the month of April 2015 was recorded at Rs 15.62 million which was Rs 16.96 million in the previous April of 2014.  The deference in rupees was recorded at 1.34 million while the difference in percentage was 7.90 percent less than the previous year.

Similarly, in term of withholding tax, the department collected Rs 214.22 million in April 2014. However, the figure was Rs 150.51 million in previous year in April 2014. So the difference was recorded at Rs 63.71 million while the difference in percentage was 42.33 percent.

The grand total value of collection was Rs 1123.80 million in gross and Rs 1093.52 million in net in April 2015 and this value was Rs 1236.55 million and Rs 1155.55 million in as net in April 2014. The difference in rupees was -112.75 million while the difference in percentage was -9.12 percent less than the previous April 2014.
