Peshawar Customs generates Rs 1567m in August

PESHAWAR: The Modal Customs Collectorate collected Rs 1567.44 million in wake of duty/taxes during August 2016 against Rs 1597.88 million collected during same corresponding period of last year 2015, showing a shortfall of Rs 30.44 million.

As per details, the department collected Rs 612.61 million under the head of customs duty against Rs 568.56 million of August 2015, showing a difference of Rs 139.92 million. In wake of sale tax, it collected Rs 377.11 against Rs 373.27 million of last year, showing a decline of Rs 3.83 million.

The customs generated Rs 112.45 million as sales tax levies as federal excise duty (FED) during August 2016 against Rs 242.05 million of August 2015 showing shortfall of Rs 129.6 million.

Under the head of sale tax value addition on commercial importer, the collectorate collected Rs 54.2 million against Rs 56.49 million of last year showing shortfall of Rs 4.29 million over the last year.

As FED on imports, it collected Rs 14.68 million against Rs 21.86 million of previous year showing a shortfall of Rs 7.18 million.

In terms of withholding tax, the collectorate collected Rs 396.39 million against Rs 333.65 million of August 2015 with total difference of Rs 62.74 million.

As a whole, the Peshawar Customs collected 1567.44 million in August against Rs 1597.88 million of August 2015.
