KHYBER AGENCY: The Customs officials foiled an attempt of smuggling of Pakistani currency to Afghanistan in an operation. Customs recovered Rs 4.3 million from two currency smugglers at Torkham border.
Superintendent Naeem Khan told Customs Today that the officers deputed at Torkham border suspected two persons who were heading to Kabul through Torkham border. Customs officials searched the suspects and recovered Rs 4.3 million concealed in their baggage.
The currency smugglers identified as Rooh-ullah s/o Haji Muhammad Umar a resident of Charsadda and Khalil Shah s/o Sarfraz a resident of Abottabad. Customs officials registered a case of money laundering and arrested both smugglers.
Superintendent Naeem Khan said that the maximum cash limit for a person willing to travel across the border is Rs 3000 cash. He added that Customs officials are adopting effective measures to stop currency smuggling across the border.
