ISLAMABAD: The Drug Cell of the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Peshawar seized 49 kilogram of fine quality hashish worth Rs03.00 million in the international market.
According to details, Muhammad Saleem, Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Peshawar, got a tip-off that hashish was being smuggled into Peshawar. A picket was set up near Peshawar city by the Drug Cell which intercepted a Honda Civic car near Rashaki Motorway Interchange.
The Drug Cell had to chase the car for few kilometres. When the car was intercepted by the drug squad, the driver fled the scene after leaving the car on the roadside. The seizure was the biggest one during the present month.
An FIR has been lodged against the smugglers and further investigation is under way.
